Midwood

Plaza Midwood or Midwood  is one of Charlotte,  North Carolina’s hottest hoods.   When you pull into Midwood,  you probably will see the funky, fun shops and restaurants in the Central Business district. Some of Charlotte’s most popular hang outs, are clustered near Thomas Ave.  The Penquin (featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives)  Zada Jane’s (Super Veg) and Thomas Street Tavern (have a beer and chill) all stand out.   There are fancier places like Lulu and  Soul too.   Then there are the cute shops: Nova Bakery,  Century,  Pure Vida  and Hong Kong (vintage fun).

But what most people fall in love with are the houses.  Adorable bungalows line the curving sidewalked streets and they are all different!  The earliest homes were built in the 1900’s but most were built pre- and post depression.   Most feature wide front porches, wood floors, fireplaces and unique architectural features.   In recent years more new construction homes have been built at Tippah Park,  on Club Road and scattered thru out the neighborhood on infill lots.   For anyone who wants to take a walk and wave to neighbors and get to cool stuff… this neighborhood is hard to beat.
